Shark Off, the maker of shark repellent jewelry is adding to its selection of products that help ward off sharks. The new Rio bracelet is made from paracord, a lightweight nylon rope, and uses the same patented technology as the company’s original Bimini style bracelet.
The beads on the bracelets are made of a proprietary alloy that emits a 1.4-volt electrical field when submerged in water, repelling sharks and allowing wearers to “Lose the fear and love the ocean,” as the company’s slogan says.
Owners Shea Geist, boss momma a.k.a. chief executive officer, and Geoff Geist, big kahuna a.k.a. chief operating officer, say they named the new bracelet in honor of their Brazilian friends who suggested they begin using more colors, since the Bimini is only available in black.
“Their honest feedback about our limited color selection constantly inspires us to seek the people who are going to tell us the things we may not want to hear. The Rio was born right there,” said Shea Geist.
The bracelets have all the same functionality as the Bimini. They are fully adjustable to fit the ankle or wrist of everyone in the family, according to the company. Each bracelet is custom- and hand-made. More information is available at www.thesharkoff.com.
