Atlanta Apparel’s fashion office has released its trend report for Autumn/Winter 2024, providing retailers with insights into upcoming colors, prints, essential apparel items, footwear and accessories. The April edition of Atlanta Apparel marks the season break, April 9-12, at AmericasMart Atlanta, with a continuing showcase of Autumn/Winter 2024 styles through June and August editions of Atlanta Apparel and the August edition of Las Vegas Apparel at World Market Center Las Vegas.

“As the fashion landscape evolves, we’re witnessing a shift towards investment pieces that will last both in quality and timelessness,” says Morgan Ramage, ANDMORE fashion and events director. “Consumers are increasingly mindful, gravitating towards classic neutrals and everlasting styles, prioritizing quality tailoring and versatile garments over excessive consumption.”

Must-have apparel items for next season focus on longevity with an emphasis on tailoring and easy-to-style pieces. According to ANDMORE, staple items include wide and pleated denim and trousers; column, asymmetrical and ribbed knit skirts and dresses; denim, sheer and romantic tops and cardigan sets; shaggy, shearling coats; oversized biker jackets; sharp shoulders, and cinched-waist power blazers and trench coats.

ANDMORE reports that key colors for Autumn/Winter 2024 focus on mindful pastels energizing bright, timeless neutrals and tinted darks inspired by the caring economy, space exploration and underground subcultures. A few of the upcoming season’s top colors include Apricot Crush Orange, a wellness-inspiring color; Sustained Grey, Graphite, Italian Clay, Ground Coffee and Nutshell Brown, providing long-term wear and practicality; Panna Cotta Yellow, Fresh Mint Green, Nephrite Green and Cool Matcha Green, offering a sense of optimism in foundational mid-tones; and Intense Rust Red and Midnight Plum Purple, reflecting the blurred lines between digital and physical and tinted dark shades that are reflected in metaverse travel and human emotion. Additionally, metallics, specifically silver, is popular, reflecting technology-enhancing design.

Regarding footwear, trends center around the idea that comfort is key, along with continuing classic styles and color. For Autumn/Winter 2024, there will be a resurgence in styles, including Penny Loafers; Mary Janes; ballet flats; statement mules; the slingback; and clogs. Also, the non-shoe continues to grow in popularity, bringing mesh and see-through designs to comfortable styles such as mules and flats. Numerous designs will capture the spirit of embracing life’s joys with metallic accents or sparkling rhinestone embellishments adorning playful styles such as knee-high boots, court shoes and Y2K party shoes.

Print themes for Autumn/Winter 2024 spotlight AI-inspired designs, incorporating ghostly illusions, technology-driven motifs and rich, saturated colors. With growing emphasis on well-being and sustainability, there is also heightened appreciation for handcrafted details, including patchwork and artisanal finishes.

Accessories for the upcoming season add embellishments to classic styles through the use of bold accents, such as statement earrings, belts with large buckles, pendants on necklaces, volume scarves, neck ties, modern occasion clutch and metallic hardware.
