Many symbols have become synonymous with products that support Ukraine, and among them are the blue and yellow colors that make up the Ukraine flag. According to The Flag Institute, the blue and yellow of Ukraine’s flag represents the country’s role as Europe’s breadbasket. Blue denotes the skies over the vast land, while yellow stands for the grain growing in the huge wheat fields beneath.

The flag itself dates back to 1848 but had not been allowed to fly during the period where Ukraine became a Soviet state. In the spring of 1989, the blue and yellow flag reappeared in Lviv and western Ukraine, used mostly by nationalist and human-rights organizations. In 1992 it was declared the national flag of the newly independent Ukraine.

The blue and yellow flag has become a symbol of freedom and democracy, and Ukrainians display and wear their national colors with visible pride.

The sunflower is another prominent symbol displayed on products that support Ukraine. The tall, magnificent flower is the national flower of Ukraine and has been a symbol of peace for the nation. More than 60% of the world’s sunflowers grow in Ukraine, Europe’s second largest country. After the invasion by Russia on Feb. 24, the sunflower has gained popularity as a global symbol of unity and resistance to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
