When Karen Carr and I founded Seaside Retailer in 2019, we recognized a need in the marketplace to deliver meaningful content to this dynamic segment of retailers who specialize in carrying beach, coastal and nautical merchandise. No other media company was providing much needed resources dedicated to this specialty group of retailers.


We wanted to build on the already amazing community that existed between buyers, sellers and trade shows with a publication where retailers could go to increase their knowledge of the marketplace and gain the insights needed to elevate their businesses.



Seaside Retailer made its debut in 2020 as a quarterly publication, providing articles on product and style trends, retailer profiles, store presentation and other relevant topics. The magazine was so well-received that we continued to grow, and in 2021 we increased the frequency to a bimonthly publication.


As we head into 2022, we are building on our growth and momentum in an even bigger way! Drumroll please! This time, all the great content you’ve grown to rely on in the magazine will come to life with an in-person event in Orlando, Florida, Oct. 3-5.

We guarantee this conference is unlike any other you will experience because it will truly be designed for retailers such as yourselves with a vibe that seaside retailers can appreciate. We chose the Margaritaville Resort Orlando as the backdrop for the conference for its island-inspired ambiance. It’s also an easy destination for many of our readers.



We love the laid-back beach lifestyle, but we also know that business is important. The Coastal Connections Conference will deliver both, with impactful educational sessions without all the formal business attire. We encourage retailers to be themselves as they would for their customers inside their gift shop, souvenir store or boutique. The only stipulation is that you come to make connections and leave with winning ideas for your store.
