The Beach House Stone Harbor has debuted as a family-friendly gift shop in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.
Christie Schwinn who co-owns the shop with her mother Sandy Cohn, describes the store as a small shop full of “seaside essentials for the whole family.” The gift shop features beach toys, puzzles and games that customers can take back to their beach house, as well as some Stone Harbor name-drop shirts, caps and beach accessories.
“We’re mainly all about the toys and games you can bring to the beach — we’re a small one-stop shop for that,” says Schwinn.
Schwinn says she and her mother had been planning to open the store since a retail building opened up in fall 2025. Schwinn’s mother and father, David Cohn, also own Stone Harbor Crib & Beach Rental as a complementary business across the street. The rental shop offers bike, baby crib, linens and beach equipment rentals to people visiting or living in Stone Harbor.
“People would always come into the rental store and ask, ‘Where can we buy these beach toys?’ So we started developing a store as soon as a space opened up,” says Schwinn.
Sandy Cohn has neatly organized kids’ toys, apparel and beach accessories throughout the 450-square-foot store. “It’s a very small store, but my mom is a great organizer,” Schwinn notes.
In addition to offering beach toys, apparel and accessories, Schwinn also plans to offer experiences at the new store throughout the summer season.
“I’ve started ‘The Beach House Kids Club’ where we’ll invite families and their kids to come by the store at least once a week for story time, crafts, games and other activities for the kids,” says Schwinn. “For Memorial Day, we read Wonders of the USA by Shine-A-Light books to the kids and had kids color American flags.”
Schwinn adds that she hopes the store can be a one-stop shop for people vacationing and spending time in and around Stone Harbor.
She says, “I would love for us to be a one-stop shop for beach fun for the families, whether they are visiting here or live here, whether it’s getting a game to play at the beach house or toys to take to the beach. We want to have something for everyone spending time here in town.”
