Medina, Ohio-based Breakwall Publishing has announced that its two publications, Seaside Retailer and Souvenirs, Gifts & Novelties, have each been recognized by the American Society of Business Publication Editors with 2026 Azbee Awards of Excellence. ASBPE is the professional association for full-time and freelance editors, writers, art directors and designers employed in business, trade and specialty press.

Winners of the Azbee awards represent the best of B2B publishing. This year, the organization received 740 entries, which were judged by 83 experienced B2B editors, freelancers, designers and journalism professors.

Seaside Retailer received a national silver award and a regional silver in the Print Article Design category for the “Timelessly Original” cover story, which was designed by Publisher and Creative Director Karen Carr. The feature article pairs long-form storytelling with immersive design to spotlight a third-generation coastal retailer navigating change while preserving its legacy, with design actively supporting the narrative.

Seaside Retailer also received a regional gold award in the Publication Design category for its strong brand identity, consistent styles and overall design.

Additionally, ASBPE awarded Seaside Retailer a regional bronze award in the Case Study category for “Making a Quick Comeback,” written by Smalley. The article outlines how Quiet Flight Surf Shop reopened its doors in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, only weeks after closing due to financial challenges.

Seaside Retailer’s sister publication Souvenirs, Gifts & Novelties (SGN) also received several awards. SGN received a regional silver award in the Group or Company Profile category for “Funny Business,” written by Contributing Writer Kristen Hampshire. The article shares how The Comedy Shop in Jamestown, New York, functions as an integral extension of the National Comedy Center experience, where storytelling, emotion and commerce intersect.

SGN also received a regional bronze award in the How-To Article category for “An Inviting Little Hiking Store,” written by Associate Editor Megan Smalley. The article showcases how Guest Services Inc. sets up displays at its Ten Falls Supply Co. store in Silver Falls State Park and offers inspiration for how other retailers could adopt these practices at their own stores.

“Winning multiple Azbee Awards across both publications is an exciting recognition of the work our team puts into every issue,” says Breakwall Publishing Editorial Director Kristin Ely. “Whether we're highlighting innovative retailers, exploring industry trends or sharing practical business insights, our goal is always to create content that makes a difference for our readers. We're honored to be recognized for that commitment.”

“These awards are a reflection of the creativity, talent and dedication behind every issue we publish,” says Carr. “From compelling storytelling to impactful design, our team works hard to create publications that stand out in the marketplace. We're thrilled to see that work recognized and grateful for the support of our readers and industry partners.”
