Follow these tips for a better hire.

  1. Determine the qualities you want in a candidate. Do not simply go off of their availability.
  2. A quality candidate is trainable, a good listener, shows interest, can engage strangers and is enthusiastic about the store.
  3. Meet the applicant in person and don’t just rely on what they put down on paper.
  4. Focus on asking about past experiences during the interview instead of hypothetical questions.
  5. Don’t think of your hire as simply a short-term or seasonal hire. You want someone who can help your business, not just a warm body.
