- Determine the qualities you want in a candidate. Do not simply go off of their availability.
- A quality candidate is trainable, a good listener, shows interest, can engage strangers and is enthusiastic about the store.
- Meet the applicant in person and don’t just rely on what they put down on paper.
- Focus on asking about past experiences during the interview instead of hypothetical questions.
- Don’t think of your hire as simply a short-term or seasonal hire. You want someone who can help your business, not just a warm body.
