Company originally developed products for fishermen’s hands.

When MacKenzie’s owners Michael Ayles and Hank DeWolf set out to create MacKenzie’s initial line of products in 2021, they had fishermen in mind. As two recreational anglers who grew up on the coast of New England, they knew that fishermen had many great options on gear and equipment to suit any style of fishing, but when it came time to pack up and head home, there were very few choices for dealing with a day’s worth of bait, scales, and slime left behind on your hands. As a result, MacKenzie’s flagship product, Fisherman Hand Scrub was developed to clean and deodorize even the fishiest of hands leaving them fresh and smooth.

While the scrub was originally created as a highly effective deodorizer and cleanser for fisherman, Michael & Hank quickly noticed that it was also being commandeered by the cooks and gardeners of the home. With its ability to eliminate odors from being out on the boat or in the kitchen as well as remove stubborn dirt and stains from a day in the garden, MacKenzie's is now found by as many kitchen sinks as it is tackle boxes, according to the company.

Momentum began to build during the 2021 holiday shopping season and in the Spring of 2022 when gift shops, gourmet markets, outfitters and garden centers up and down the East Coast and as far out as Washington and California started carrying the products. In August, the MacKenzie’s launched the addition of eight new products specially designed to complement the coastal lifestyle on and off the water.

MacKenzie's is made in small batches in New Hampshire. The full line of products can be found in retailers nationwide and can be ordered online at fishermanhandscrub.com.
