The new family-owned beach shop aims to help visitors and locals make memories while visiting Lake Huron shores.ReFresh Beach Shop debuted this summer as a new beach-themed gift and frozen yogurt shop near Lake Huron shores in Caseville, Michigan. The family-owned shop opened Memorial Day weekend. Owner Lane Walker lives close to Caseville with his family, and they’ve always spent summertime visiting the beach in town. In more recent years, Walker says he and his wife began talking about opening a beach-themed gift shop in Caseville. “Caseville has gift shops and there are other ice cream shops, but we wanted to open a modern yet traditional beach store,” says Walker. When the perfect location became available in January, Walker and his wife purchased a building in Caseville to open a family-owned beach shop. After spending several months prepping the building and merchandise, ReFresh Beach Shop opened May 24. Walker notes that his whole family came up with the name “ReFresh.” “We went back and forth on the name,” he explains. “We came up with ReFresh. That’s why you go to the lake, the beach. You refresh your mind, body and soul. At ReFresh, you can refresh your appetite, clothing and your whole day.” ReFresh Beach Shop is full of merchandise to help visitors and locals alike make memories when they’re in Caseville, including T-shirts, hoodies, swimsuits and other small souvenirs. The shop offers a self-serve frozen yogurt bar with six different flavors to choose from. Walker adds that the store carries some beach “essentials” customers might have forgotten, such as waterproof cellphone holders, chargers and more. Walker has also written a series of kid’s books, which are sold in the store and appeal to kids who want a new book to read on vacation at the beach. With a goal to help visitors make memories, Walker even set up a section of the store for people to take selfies in front of a beachy backdrop. The new coastal retailer finished its first season Labor Day weekend. Walker shares that he hopes to keep bringing the store back each summer vacation season to help people make memories of their time in Caseville. “We’re not just providing beach things — we’re creating memories,” he says. “Our goal is the same: to provide lifelong memories for families. We want them to remember ReFresh Beach Shop. We’re looking forward to doing that and providing that to customers when they come to Caseville.” |
